Recount on Mother's Day by Alissa Sam

Mother's Day.

On Sunday the 11th of May, it was Mother's Day. My sister and I were panicking because we had forgotten all about it. We quietly asked our dad if he could take us to the shop to buy a present for our mum, but dad's answer was 'No'! We kept begging but the answer was still NO!

We went back into the house feeling worried about how mum was going to react when she finds out that we didnt get her a present. Suddenly, an idea popped into my sister's head. Since our mum loves chocolate we thought we could make her a chocolate cake.

My sister grabbed the laptop and researched what kind of chocolate cake we could make but there was one problem. We had no chocolate. We checked if there was anyone around and borrowed our uncles money. My sister sneaked outside and went to the dairy even though we weren't allowed to go but we didn't want to see our mum sad on Mother's Day. We quicklywashed our hands and began to bake.

After we had made the mixture we put it in the oven and waited for it to bake. A few minutes passed then finally the cake was ready. We left it to cool down and we started to make a card but our mum came in. When she opened the door we shouted "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!" and gave her a great big hug. After that my sister dragged our mum into the kitchen and gave her the chocolate cake. She ate it quietly. I'm sure she loved it.
